A new regional park for Ealing consultation is open for feedback.
This new park will be 8 kilometers of linked green spaces in Ealing. Ealing Council wants your views and is inviting responses to the consultation here. Have your say before the deadline of 6 April 2025.
What is the regional park?
The regional park will be a large green space connecting some of the boroughs existing parkland, like Perivale Park, Horsenden Hill, Churchfields, and Warren Farm. The green space created will expand to form an accessible and lively natural network offering opportunities for nature conservation, leisure, sports, and community activities.
Pear Tree Park was opened in August 2024. This will eventually form part of the proposed regional park. Pear Tree Park is about the size of 30 football pitches and on a previously existing 9 hole golf course. It nestles beside Perivale Park is part of the Brent River Park area. Tree planting activities have been taking place in the park, to introduce native species of plants, climate-resilient trees and flowers. Future work will include introducing wetlands to help deal with flash flooding, providing space for wildlife and encouraging more biodiversity. The park will also include a small pear orchard that will be planted in 2025, in reference to its name and history.
Benefits
Ealing’s regional project will offer a number of benefits for the community:
- Greener, healthier spaces. Expanding woodland, wetland, and meadows to boost biodiversity and improve air quality;
- Better connections for walking and cycling. Creating new and improved pathways that link local communities to the park;
- Outdoor activities hub. Offering spaces for hiking, running, cycling, water activities, and community events;
- Culture and play space. Exploring the possibility of an outdoor cultural venue and family-friendly play areas;
- Flood resilience improvements. Managing the River Brent corridor to enhance water quality and reduce flood risks in the area.
There is an associated concept plan for the regional park development, available here (pdf). Some of the proposed plans for nature restoration are visible on the map. Please read the plan before responding to the consultation.
